August 03:10 video
AUGUST Everything’s shiny In the past The little ship Receding mast Everything’s too bright In the past The sturgeon moon Preceding blasts All the wildlife has A time of it As the trickster Makes his exit Everything’s morning On a dare A brand new patent A child to share Everything’s too fast In the now Recall the horseshoe We don’t know how All the ragweed has A fine old time The dog days gone So squeeze the lime And sip to stay cool And dip in the pool And flip like a fool And let summer rule Like a king Like the sun Like it’s all Just begun
2.
BRICK BY BRICK In the envelope heat On the old sailors street My love rises in the west And falls asleep in the southeast Where the water meets the water And the tears meet the rain I will see you forever If I can see you again Brick by brick Like so many matchsticks To some flame of old We force our bodies Over We tuck, We roll We carry that ember Till there’s a hole in the bucket There’s a table by the door Below the leak – above I’m there staring at the floor Dreaming of my love We awake at dawn We’re moving thru cities We’re moving thru light These immovable hearts Are moving on Brick by brick Like so many matchsticks To some flame of old We force our bodies Over We tuck, We roll We carry that ember Till there’s a hole in the bucket (half alive and torn asunder half alive inside rolling crowds deep deep deep deep inside rolling crowds)

EVERY WORD I need a walk with you Cuz you need a talkin to Bout the things you do I see you every day I hang on every word You say I know this Is not the way I know this is the end I know I know No Friend When it comes To you I know this is the end I know I know No Friend When it comes To you

I DO BELIEVE I do believe – Jesus He don’t know me I got to believe He don’t know me I say I can’t go on They say I’m tough I say no really They say I must They stuffed me with stuff That empty cry Falls out my throat Oh yea they stuffed me with stuff That empty cry Falls out my throat I do believe -Jesus He don’t know me I got to believe Jesus He don’t know me He don’t owe me He don’t own me We done what we Should He don’t owe me He don’t own me We done what we Could Lord knows I want to live Much longer Lord knows I want to live Much longer Than I’m gonna live

LEAVE ANOTHER DAY Wed in August Dead to her By October I had told her I’m bound To a freighter Leavin the 3rd or 4th Of I told her She holler baby What can we do With all these Un-refundable fees Lets walk it back baby Who will I be Without the mysteries With one look She brings me to my knees She brings me to my knees Shall I try to pull the boat out of the bay Shall I try to leave another day I look so hard Into the sea Longing for the ear Of my darling Over there – she hear me She sirens baby I’m right here baby Then I’m Rollin up on this island Honey I’m shipwrecked Baby I am abandoned Every night- every day – all alone She brings me to my knees She still brings me to my knees Shall I try to build a boat out of the sand Shall I try to build a boat out of the waves Shall I try to leave another day Shall I try to leave another day
6.
RED ROVER Wind on water Water over the bridge She says I’ll be walking Beyond the ridge You always moved mountains If they got in your way Red rover Red rover Come over Come over Your Rock n Roll is here to stay Please Elyse At least tell me You’re at peace Please At least Tell me you’re at peace Elyse Please At least Tell me you’re at peace Elyse Please Elyse At least tell me You’re at peace
7.
SUMMER WHITE Fire ants and fireflies No regrets And no goodbyes I’ll kiss the sun On your cheeks I’ll miss the sun In your eyes Summer white Winter white Falling down for you In Spring again A single day Or a thousand nights Blinded In a life of sight I’ve never known A heart so bright Summer white Winter white Falling down for you In Spring again
8.
SUNDAY SLIDES I’ve captured you By listening in I’m all over you I’m in your bin I’m in your car Check me out I’m after you With my umbrella Because I cover you As you walk As you sit As you bark In the park Rain or shine You’ll get yours and I’ll get mine I’ll fight for yours Will you fight for mine When Sunday comes When Sunday comes When Sunday comes I’m slim by candlelight You’ve taken a shine to me You’ve taken my picture Or three You’ve taken me apart I am your heart Taken me apart I am your heart Rain or shine You’ll get yours, and I’ll get mine I’ll fight for yours Will you fight for mine When Sunday comes When Sunday comes When Sunday comes And then Sunday comes And then Sunday slides
