lyrics

You Didn’t Fight Fair (Lyrics by Kevin Lay)

And here you are
My new sparring partner
So freaking fit
Like I stand a chance

Oh here we go
My new fire starter
Having a moment
If I can choose – let’s dance

I never wanna be a fist
I just wanna make my point
I’d like to be a tourniquet
When the need arise
Pressure applies

You didn’t fight fair
But you never said you would
I don’t know why
I don’t know why
I thought you would

Instead I feel my sores
All purple and ointment
You didn’t fight fair
But you never said you would

It’s always been a tournament
But we didn’t used to
Do it like this
Once there was time
For a rebound
Once there was time
For a hey - look around
Once upon a time
There was time
To make a stand

You didn’t fight fair
But you never said you would
I don’t know why
I don’t know why
I thought you could
Maybe just for me
I thought you would
I don’t know why
I don’t know why
I thought you could
